KEP Presents the Startup Showdown

The Kootenay Entrepreneurship Program (KEP), a collaborative program offered by KAST, College of the Rockies, and Selkirk College, is thrilled to announce the upcoming Startup Showdown: a dynamic business simulation competition held on February 3 and 4, 2024, simultaneously at both the College of the Rockies (Cranbrook Campus), and Selkirk College (Castlegar Campus).

The two-day event will offer an immersive experience for college students eager to explore the world of entrepreneurship. Hosted by the renowned business expert, Mike Konkin, the Startup Showdown is specially crafted for students with aspirations of launching their own businesses in the future, providing them with invaluable insights and knowledge, even if they have no prior business background.

The event promises an engaging business simulation that challenges participants to navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship. Students can register for free either as a team of two to four or as individuals. Individual registrants will be placed onto teams, giving them the exciting opportunity to collaborate with other students from various programs, fostering a dynamic environment for creative exchange.

To ensure participants can focus on the thrilling competition, the organizers will provide complimentary food and refreshments throughout the event. Additionally, an esteemed panel of local entrepreneurial experts will serve as judges evaluating the participants’ performances. Winners will be honored with awards recognizing their entrepreneurial prowess.

This Startup Showdown not only aims to stimulate innovative thinking but also serves as a platform for students to network with like-minded individuals and industry professionals. The KEP is a collaboration committed to fostering entrepreneurship and empowering the next generation of business leaders in the Kootenay region. Funding for this event was provided by ETSI-BC and the Province of British Columbia.
