About KAST Youth
GLOWS – Growing & Learning Opportunities With STEAM was founded in 2007 by KAST, transitioned to Selkirk College in 2016, then returned to KAST in 2019. Selkirk College and KAST are longtime collaborators with major tech-focused initiatives. GLOWS is developing collaboration opportunities with College of the Rockies and the Basin Youth Network, and is always excited to connect with educators and administrators from SD5, SD6, SD8, SD10, SD19, SD20 and SD51.

What people are saying about GLOWS:
“Fostering an interest and passion for learning these disciplines at a young age is vital to success when students reach the post-secondary stage of their education”
“By asking youth in our region to work out a challenge they’re experiencing by conceptualizing a contraption, we simultaneously introduce problem solving, critical thinking, design thinking, innovation through creativity and a work plan very similar to what STEAM professionals at FortisBC and beyond, do nearly everyday. The Kootenay Contraption Contest and GLOWS are extremely meaningful programs for youth in our region.”
