The Kootenay Association of Science & Technology (KAST) is thrilled to announce that NSERC’s (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada) PromoScience program has awarded GLOWS, our youth program, $95,000 to support Kootenay youth ages 5-19 find inspiration for their post-secondary education goals in a variety of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) disciplines.

GLOWS (Growing and Learning Opportunities With STEAM) programming includes summer camps, Robot Week, Kootenay Contraption Contest, Girls in Engineering and the Quantum Leaps speaker series, as well as a new initiative to create both online and hands-on learning opportunities.

NSERC’s PromoScience program offers financial support for organizations working with young Canadians to promote an understanding of STEM and offer hands-on learning experiences for young students and their teachers.
