2024 Kootenay Contraption Contest - 3D Design Workshops (Optional)

3D Design Your Contraption!

We are offering the option to 3D design your contraption. Using TinkerCad software, or other media for younger folks, our Youth Facilitators will lead local groups through the design process! TinkerCad is a free, easy to use 3D design software available online. Beginners can start creating in 3D with simple drag and drop models. Others may wish to design on paper, or use physical modelling materials, which will also be encouraged.

KAST’s Youth Tech Facilitator Noah has created some instructional videos to help get you started, if you’re wanting to use TinkerCAD, available at KAST.com/KCC. The TinkerCad website has additional instructional materials.

3D Design Workshops will take approximately 1.5 – 2 hours. Innovators can save their designs online (or paper), and keep working on them later.
