Cover Architectural Collaborative Inc. was founded by 3 design professionals in 2013 and has grown to a team of 15 Architects, Architectural Technologists, Designers, Intern Architects, and Administrative Support. Our team is energetic and passionate about collective thinking, integrated design and technology, professional accountability, and the responsible use of resources. Cover has completed projects across British Columbia and Alberta in a range of sectors including health care, commercial, industrial, residential and community. We also see ourselves as a local company with a “Kootenay touch” which means that we use local material, understand the unique local lifestyle, and a sustainable approach to architecture.

Sustainability has been at the core of our design philosophy. One of the founders, Principal Lukas Armstrong, designed, built and lives in Canada’s first Certified Passivehouse (PH) Multi-family Building. Since then Cover Architecture has completed several PH buildings including the world’s first PH certified Auto Dealership for Subaru Canada in Red Deer Alberta.  We believe that from an energy perspective, PH is the strongest program available and has the potential to reduce energy use by 80-100%, and even create energy plus buildings. Cover Architecture is also LEED approved, and through this training brings many other considerations to a project including material toxicity, embodied energy, VOC’s, recycled content, water management, use of daylight, and healthy indoor air quality. Socially and ethically, Cover Architecture believes that creating low energy buildings is imperative to the health of our climate and community.
