Canadian Health Advocates Inc. (CHAI) was inspired by the vision and passion of its founder and CEO, Paige Lennox. Paige believes that every patient should receive the best possible health care in combination with the best possible care-plan management.
Paige’s passion for health advocacy is a direct result of professional and personal experience. In her 25 years as an RN she witnessed how patient care is affected by stretched resources and overworked healthcare professionals. When her own mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness everything became more obvious. As a result of that experience she realized thousands of Canadians experience this every day… and who is there to help them?
This is why CHAI exists.
Through virtual communication tools, CHAI’s health care advocates support patients, and patient families, across Canada. We currently have patient advocates physically located in:

Cover Architectural Collaborative Inc. was founded by 3 design professionals in 2013 and has grown to a team of 15 Architects, Architectural Technologists, Designers, Intern Architects, and Administrative Support. Our team is energetic and passionate about collective thinking, integrated design and technology, professional accountability, and the responsible use of resources. Cover has completed projects across British Columbia and Alberta in a range of sectors including health care, commercial, industrial, residential and community. We also see ourselves as a local company with a “Kootenay touch” which means that we use local material, understand the unique local lifestyle, and a sustainable approach to architecture.
Sustainability has been at the core of our design philosophy. One of the founders, Principal Lukas Armstrong, designed, built and lives in Canada’s first Certified Passivehouse (PH) Multi-family Building. Since then Cover Architecture has completed several PH buildings including the world’s first PH certified Auto Dealership for Subaru Canada in Red Deer Alberta. We believe that from an energy perspective, PH is the strongest program available and has the potential to reduce energy use by 80-100%, and even create energy plus buildings. Cover Architecture is also LEED approved, and through this training brings many other considerations to a project including material toxicity, embodied energy, VOC’s, recycled content, water management, use of daylight, and healthy indoor air quality. Socially and ethically, Cover Architecture believes that creating low energy buildings is imperative to the health of our climate and community.

Cowan Office Supplies Ltd. is a 2nd generation family owned and operated business established in 1972 by Gordon and Jill Cowan. It is now carried on by Andy and Paul Cowan. Prior to being purchased by the Cowan’s it was owned by former Nelson mayor Tex Mowatt and known as J.T. Mowat and Son. It was located at 110 Baker Street and occupied half of the building.
In 1976 Gordon moved the business to it’s current location at 517 Victoria Street which he purchased from John Thom when it was previously operated as Jonella Cleaners. Gordon hired well known architect Eric Clough who completely redesigned the building to house the growing operation.
Our business has changed and kept with developing trends over the 45 years we have been in the office products industry. In the 70’s and early 80’s we employed a team of machine repair technicians for servicing typewriters and mechanical machines. When these started to decline used furniture became popular in the 90’s and our building was further renovated to accommodate this new opportunity. When this market began to decline in the 2000’s, Cowan’s tapped into the growing art supplies market where we now have the biggest selection of art supplies in the Kootenay’s! Our business currently handles office products, art supplies, new office furniture, and a self serve copy centre for customers to use. In short we are an adaptable growing business willing to do whatever we can to help and service the community we live in and love.
