Calling youth photographers! Take photos of Rossland and Win a LowePro Sport 200 Camera Bag

While people, places, faces and spaces come and go as time ticks along, photos can last forever. This month, keen young eyes, and sophisticated shutters will be on the hunt to capture Rossland’s heritage in photo form for the first annual Youth Photo Contest as part of the Rossland Heritage Celebration.

Stare at the Sun (and learn) - Safely on Sunny Sunday September 2nd

You are all cordially invited to come to Taghum Hall on Sunday September 2 between noon and 2pm to safely look at the Sun with a Hydrogen Alpha Scope and through sun filters on the big telescope!!

Congratulations 2012 KAST Science & Technology Scholarship Recipients!

Each year KAST provides a $250 scholarship to graduating students in School Districts 8, 10, 20, and 51 who have demonstrated a passion for science and/or technology through a combination of academic achievement, participation, and leadership. KAST is very proud of our region’s talented tech and science students, and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors!

Lights, camera, LEARNING! Youth film-making workshops coming this fall...

 

This fall, KAST is teaming up with the Rossland Council for Arts & Culture (RCAC) and municipal recreation departments in Rossland, Trail, Castlegar, as well as Crawford Bay Community School, to host digital film-making workshops for youth ages 13-18.

Scene Studio in Rossland puts the spotlight on aspiring young actors

Youth came, connected and created: 18 youth action events taking place this month

(Columbia Basin) - Youth from across the Basin met at CBT’s Youth Action Summit in Kimberley on May 3 to 6, 2012, to get inspired, educated and empowered to create action events in their own communities. The result is CONNECT: Youth Action Month, which will see 18 youth-inspired and -created Action Events happening right now across the Basin.
