Teck Serv Student Research Internship

Teck Serv Student Research Internship – Deadline March 29th!

Teck Serv Student Research Internship

Last year’s TeckServ internship allowed Alexandre Landry, a student of the Geographic Information Systems Bachelor degree program to work with the Economic Development Commission of the East Shore of Kootenay Lake (EDC) during an initial stage of their Asset-Based Community Development Project.

Up to $10,000 is available to help a local organization work with a Selkirk College student to undertake community-based research in the West Kootenay and Boundary region.

Teck Serv Student Research Internship opportunities are offered as the result of a funding partnership between Teck Trail Operations and Selkirk College to provide support for Selkirk College students to undertake a community-based research project in the West Kootenay Boundary Region.

The annual TeckServ Internship, now in its seventh year, provides support for an applied research project designed to offer ongoing benefit to the community.

The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. on March 29, 2018.

Students and community-based organizations are invited to apply for this unique opportunity which aims to support initiatives that will create positive rural development outcomes at the local or regional scale. Submissions from organizations do not need to have a student identified, but submissions from students should be linked to a sponsoring community organization. Proposals must be received by March 29, 2018 and the successful applicant will be notified by early April.

The program is funded by Teck Trail Operations, and additional support is provided by the Columbia Basin Rural Development Institute (RDI), at Selkirk College.
